I am:
1. Awesome, at least according to my Mom
2. One of those advertising creative types
3. Someone who just told my partner: your art director style is strong, but my copywriter style will make you stay late to move the logo around and get the layout right while I hit the town and bag hot chicks you had a crush on…and thus I defeat you
4. Domiciled in New York
5. From Minnesota
6. Bucking for promotion, but really hoping for a free trip to Cannes
7. Still excited to wear jeans to work every day
8. A fan of top ten lists

10. Totally over The Original Pretty AE who doesn’t know what she’s missing

I love your blog. Very witty and entertaining. I am a 24 year old guy who started a shop in Oklahoma City a year ago to avoid law school. I hope, as we grow, I never become bozo the clown. Hell, I might be him already.

As a new grad and junior AE at a small agency, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. Thanks for the insider tips and info for the fresh meat.

I agree with your comments about the Da Vinci Dell shotgun wedding. I know many of the participants and expect a fiasco to unfold. Ask almost anyone on the agency side who has worked on Dell for their thoughts. They aren’t pretty.
But it is great to see the job creation and money being spent in Austin. The GSDM former employees need jobs.

I am a writer at an ad agency by day and blogger by night. Gives me some authority, I think, to say – your blog rocks!

Read some of your comments about Marketing Drive. My experience in dealing with them has been the opposite of what you portray. Very unprofessional. When did they fire you?
dailybiz // June 4, 2008 at 12:36 pm |
@ Max Dee – Unprofessional? It would be unprofessional if I did or ever had worked at Marketing Drive. I haven’t and, frankly, never will.
My opinion on Marketing Drive, like my opinion on other shops (I don’t write about my current shop and I have publicly admitted to being an ex-Fallonite in the spirit of disclosure), is perfectly un-tinged by any past associations. And my opinion is that Marketing Drive just isn’t a very good shop. Just because I don’t like your agency doesn’t mean that I was fired from there…or that I dislike your personally, lots of good people are at sub-par agencies.
Hopefully that puts you at ease.
And if you have examples of totally sweet, never-been-done, advertising karate style work from Mktg Drive then I will run with it and talk about how great it is. If you don’t then, well, that sort of says it.
