I will keep this one short because, really, it should be common sense. The easiest way to piss of a Creative Director is to send him an email of impenetrable prose that asks him what you should do for a very simple added value assignment that he has already discussed with you.
Suggestion 1: Only use email if you absolutely, positively have to. Especially to a Creative Director. Especially because he may send it to lots of other people like the whole creative team, your Account Director and Supervisor and maybe even an agency Partner because he is so frustrated that he got an email like this.
Suggestion 2: He is a Creative Director and therefore is very busy. Be succinct, to the point and clear to a fault.
Suggestion 3: Don’t just ask what you should do. Have a POV, explain the POV and tell him what you need from him be that an okay of your suggestion, a meeting to discuss its implications and next steps, etc. Be more than a clearing house for client comments, think about solutions, don’t make a Creative Director do account team work.
